Bible Study

Our Bible Study Group meets every Wednesday evening at Louise’s house during school term time. We’re a small, friendly group made up of people from across the church, and we’ve been meeting together for over a year now.

Over that time, we’ve worked our way through a number of books of the Bible, including James, John, Isaiah and Ruth, and we are currently exploring Romans together. We’ve also spent time looking at themes including women in the Bible, the love of Jesus, forgiveness and eternal life.

Several members of the group take turns to lead our studies, but it is very much a shared endeavour. Everyone is encouraged to join in, ask questions and share their own thoughts and understanding of the scripture we are reading. We don’t expect anyone to have all the answers; part of the value of meeting together is being able to listen to one another and grow in our understanding of God’s word together.

Our evenings are about fellowship as well as Bible study. We usually begin by catching up about our week and hearing how each other’s day was before we begin our study.

We always finish our time together in prayer. We pray for the needs of those within the group, for our brothers and sisters at The Beacon, and for our local community and the wider world. For us, this time of prayer is just as important as the study itself and helps support and encourage one another in our faith.

Our Bible Study Group is open to everyone, whether you have studied the Bible for many years or are simply interested in finding out more. If you would like to come along, please speak to Louise or Mim.
